Our Smoked Halibut is ready to eat. Simply remove from the fridge an hour before serving.

One-Pot Chorizo and Halibut Soup

Ingredients :

  • 1tbsp olive oil
  • 3/4 cup thinly sliced dried chorizo sausage
  • 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
  • 3 garlic cloves, thinly sliced
  • 1 1/2 tsp smoked praprika
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4tsp pepper
  • 472ml clam juice
  • 3 cups no-salt-added chicken broth
  • 2 cups mini new potatoes, quarted

Method

1. Heat oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add chorizo and cook until slightly browned, about 3min. Add onion and garlic and cook until softened, 5 min. Stir in praprika, salt and pepper and cook for 2 min

2. Add clam juice, broth and potatoes. bring to boil. Reduce to medium-low and simmer 7min. Add kale and cook 2 mins. Add fish and simmer until cooked through, about 3 min.

Looked better than it tasted.

I served this as a pre Xmas starter with the smoked tuna and smoked prawns. It looked fabulous but I found it was not a strong enough flavour to take smoking. The tuna was excellent and the prawns worked but the halibut came across as too salty. A shame as it is my favourite fish.

Great taste, but not as good as we have had before

The slices were very small which I suspect was why the fish was a bit too dry. We have had this a few times before where the slices were bigger. I know the weight in the packages are the same, but I prefer less slices of better quality. Will still buy it again because it is tasty
